Tips On Growing The Bulbs

Chinese narcissus or Chinese Sacred Lily is an indoor flower. Famous for its beauty and fragrance, "Angel In the Water" is her nickname. Belonging to daffodil family, it is similar to "Paper Whites".

To Grow:

1. In soil:
Plant the bulb half way into the good quality potting soil in a flower pot with a drain hole. Place the bulb pointed end up. Water it frequently to make sure that the soil is kept wet. True to her nickname--"Angel In the Water". It can't grow without water.
2. In water:
Prepare a nice shallow dish/vase about two or three inches high with no hole. Place the bulbs face to face if two in a vase. Make water level a little above the roots of the bulb. Nestle the bulbs into some gravel to make it prettier. Change water every other day. No special care is needed since it is very easy to grow. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to bloom under room temperature. Warm water makes it bloom quicker. When blooming, it is so beautiful and fragrant that you do not want to leave. It can be carved into a piece of artwork if you know how.

It takes about 4-6 weeks to bloom between the temperature 50 F and 64 F. The warmer, the quicker, and vice versa. Therefore, it can be forced in the greenhouse, but better maintain the temperature below 75 F. It only blooms once. A new year needs a new bulb. Best time to plant: November to early February.
Like other plants, sunlight comforts Chinese Sacred Lily. It helps the bulb grow prettier and quicker, but avoid exposure too long in strong sunlight.

Cut-flower lovers can make an excellent decoration with the blooming flowers in a nice vase, especially in a crystal vase.

To Store:
